Omar Florez is a Machine Learning Research Scientist at Twitter Cortex working in training large scale deep neural models that learn from weak signals (such as hashtags and user reports) to then approximate multilingual content representations and high-accurate filters for unhealthy content currently used in our platform. He is originally from Arequipa, Peru and received his undergraduate degree at Universidad Nacional de San AgustÃn (UNSA), in Peru. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Utah State University, USA. Omar has previously worked at Intel Labs and Capital One, where he worked on learning from wearable signals, text, and visual content to predict human behavior and question answering tasks.
