Romina Torres

Dr. Romina Torres is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Sciences at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, specializing in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. She leads two major research projects funded by Chile’s National Agency for Research and Development: one focused on detecting and monitoring multi-stage cyberattacks and another aimed at developing a platform for cyberattack response using responsible AI.
In 2023, she was honored with the Contributions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) award for Goal 5: Gender Equality, recognizing her commitment to empowering women in STEM. Other accolades include being named Outstanding Woman in Innovation (2020) and Women in Cybersecurity (2021).
Dr. Torres is an associate collaborator at the National AI Center in Chile, contributing to the Human-Centered AI research line, Vice-Director of the South American Research Security Consortium and Secretary of the Chilean Association of Women in AI. Dr. Torres fosters collaboration and supports initiatives to increase human trust in technology by ensuring it serves people in an ethical, inclusive, and reliable manner.
