J. Matías Di Martino received a B.Sc. and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Universidad de la República, Uruguay, in 2011 and 2015, respectively. From 2016 to 2017, he was a Research Associate with Ecole Normale Superieur in Paris. He worked at Duke University as a research assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Duke University, USA. He is a Full Professor at UCU (Uruguay) and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Duke. He published over 50 peer-reviewed scientific articles and led several large-scale research projects; he contributed as key personnel to secure over 15M$ of research funding and worked with companies to translate research into production deployments and products. His main areas of interest are artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, and image processing.
