Weather Information
For the date when khipu will take place, it will still be summer in Chile, so we recommend traveling with summer clothes, it is expected to be between 27 to 30 degrees Celsius.
Don’t forget to bring your sunscreen and stay hydrated!
Transportation
From the airport to the hotel Fundador (for those staying there) or downtown Santiago you can take the official airport transportation, such as Transvip, where you can pre-book the transfer service in group or private or book it directly at the service desk that is at the airport.
If you want to take a taxi, this service is more expensive and must be done with the official cabs (yellow roofs) that are next to the exit.
Hotel Fundador
For all foreign attendees staying at KHIPU’s main hotel, Fundador, please pick up an envelope at the reception on Sunday, March 9th, with your name on it.
The envelope will contain:
- A BIP card loaded with trips (round trip for each KHIPU conference day) for the Metro to reach the San Joaquín Campus.
- Additionally, you will find a SIM card with an initial data balance for internet access.
Santiago Subway (use your BIP card)
KHIPU will be held at the Universidad Católica de Chile, at the San Joaquin campus, we recommend taking the subway, line 5, subway station “San Joaquin”.
Directions from Hotel Fundador
Head to the “Universidad de Chile” Metro station near Hotel Fundador, heading towards “Los Dominicos” (Line 1). Transfer at “Baquedano” station to Line 5 towards “Vicente Valdés” and get off at “San Joaquín” station. Exit through the “Universidad Católica de Chile” exit. Enter the campus and follow the signage (you should walk towards the Temple).
Note: Look for support staff wearing black shirts with the KHIPU logo.
KHIPU at Campus San Joaquín
KHIPU will be held at the Universidad Católica de Chile, at the San Joaquín campus located at: Av. Vicuña Mackenna 4860, 7820436 Macul, Metropolitan Region.
