Renato Assunção is a professor of computer science at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil. He received MSc from the Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Washington, Seattle, USA. He focuses on the development of algorithms and stochastic models for spatially located data.
